So I haven’t blogged for a while….a long while…and my craft corner looks like this.

You’ll see an unfinished embroidery piece on top of an unfinished cross stitch beside an unfinished bobbin of spinning adjacent to a recently started piece of weaving.
Why the mess?

That’s why!

How wonderful, I’m so pleased for you! (Despite being a horribly useless correspondent).

How lovely – congratulations. My daughter will soon be 6 and I am enjoying every day with her. All the best for you and the baby!
The fantastic bracelet (top picture of your hompage) makes me write to you. Would you be willing to send me a link to get a pattern of further information how to do such a jewel? Would be great – thank you so much in advance! Greetings from Switzerland

Thanks so much for your comments and request for information or a link to the bracelet on the header. I didn’t actually follow any instructions so I’ll try to outline what I did quickly and maybe do a follow up post with more detail when I have time. First I knitted a band with cotton in a checkerboard pattern..something like knit 4 purl 4. I used this as a base fabric on which to embroider. Whenever I started a thread I would try to weave it into the cotton.
First I embroidered a buttonhole wheel into some of the squares that were formed by the knitting…I think I did alternate blocks so it kept a checkerboard appearance. I pulled the thread really tight so that it made holes in the centres of the wheels.
From then on I just experimented with raised embroidery stitches..linking some of the holes together. I found that more was better as it built up and helped to hide any messy threads. It’s definitely not as neat a process as stitching on woven material.
I also found some little pearl beads to sew on.
Hope this helps a bit. More to come I hope, but it was really one big experiment. If you do have a go I’d be really interested to see your work. Please link it to here..lor visit again and link your work here. Either or..,it would just be fun to see.
